Mary-Claire King
Mary-Claire King (1946) is a geneticist who studies complex traits in human families and populations. She is known for three major accomplishments: demonstrating that humans and chimpanzees are 99% genetically identical; discovering breast cancer genes; and developing genomic sequencing strategies to identify victims of human rights abuses. King is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Medicine.
