Shelley E. Taylor |
Shelley E. Taylor (1946) is a social and health psychologist best known for her insights into the biological effects of social relationships. Taylor has focused some of her work specifically on women: a study of the effects of women’s thoughts and beliefs on their experience of breast cancer, and an exploration of women’s “tend-and-befriend” response to stressful experiences. Her work has helped provide evidence of how biological responses to stress drive social interactions. Taylor is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Medicine.
