Linsey C. Marr
Linsey C. Marr (1975) is an engineer and international expert in aerosol science. She takes an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the dynamics of pathogens and pollutants in the air. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Marr did groundbreaking research on the SARS-CoV-2 virus, calling attention to its airborne transmission. The World Health Organization and public health officials in the United States have drawn on her expertise in developing pandemic protocols. She is particularly interested in non-traditional aerosols such as engineered nanomaterials and viral pathogens, studying how they can be chemically and physically transformed in the environment. She is a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
